A home rooted in classic design does not have to feel dated. At Mr. P. Sai Prasad’s residence in NSL East County, Uppal, Aren Studio brings together the richness of Indian craft with the comfort of contemporary living. Cane, walnut wood and brass create a consistent foundation, while folk art, hand-painted details, patterned surfaces and handcrafted elements give every space its own character.
The living room sets the tone with a cane-backed swing beneath a carved wooden arch, soft beige seating, a forest-green armchair and a large hand-illustrated mythological artwork framed in wood and highlighted by brass sconces. Warli-inspired detailing, brass idols and turned-wood spindles add layers of traditional character without making the room feel heavy.
The dining area continues the warmth through exposed red brick, a sage-green channel-tufted bench and a solid wooden table. A glass-fronted cabinet displays crockery and keepsakes, while mustard block-print wallpaper and round mirrors add personality to the wash area.
The kitchen takes a refined classic approach with cream shaker-style cabinetry, brass hardware and black countertops. A Moroccan-inspired backsplash in mustard, sage and terracotta becomes the visual highlight, while glass-fronted cabinets and integrated appliances keep the space practical and uncluttered.
Across the home, cane brings texture, walnut adds depth, brass introduces warmth and handcrafted artwork gives the spaces personality. Traditional Indian art sits comfortably alongside contemporary furniture, while patterns, natural materials and thoughtful detailing create a home that feels classic without feeling formal.
The master bedroom takes a quieter approach, but perhaps tells the most sophisticated story in the home.
The wardrobe wall curves naturally around the corner and becomes the room’s defining feature. Its ivory surface is covered in a hand-painted chinoiserie composition featuring peacocks, birds and flowering branches.
The same artistic language returns beside the bed in a circular decorative medallion, framed by fluted wood panelling. A tall arched mirror is integrated into the wardrobe wall, adding depth while catching natural light.
Elsewhere, walnut wood and pale cane create a sense of warmth and permanence.
A curved upholstered headboard, oatmeal linen Roman blinds and a floating console keep the room soft and understated.
There is no need for excess here. The room feels designed for one purpose above all else — to make coming home feel peaceful.
